A Lecturer, from March-August 2000, in the School of Science & Technology at the Open University of Hong Kong. An Assistant Professor, from 2000-2009: first in the Department of Computing at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. then in the Department of Information Management (currently the Department of Applied Information Science) at the Chung Shan Medical University, finally in the Institute of Electronic Commerce (IEC) at the National Chung Hsing University. An Associate Professor, from August 2009 to Jan 2015, in the Institute of Technology Management (ITM) at the National Chung Hsing University (after the merge of IEC and ITM). Currently a Professor in the same institute.
BEng in Electronic Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic Unviersity. MPhil and PhD holders in CSE from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. A teacher since 1998, specializing in Introduction to Computer Science, EC Websites Development, Evolution of Principles of Management, Service Systems Engineering, Neural Computation, Electronic Commerce, Research Method and Thesis Writing, with experience in teaching different levels of programs (inlcuding diploma, higher diploma, bachelor, master and doctoral programs) and different schools of students (particularly engineering and management students). A visitor of the Chinese Academy of Science in Beijing (1999-2002), the Ching Mai University in Thailand (2009), the City University of Hong Kong (2004-), the Griffith University in Australia (1998), the Florida Atlantic University in US (2001), the Majeo University in Thailand (2009). Love to do research and publish over 160 research papers. Some of them appear in Applied Soft Computing, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Transactions on Parallel & Distributed Systems, International Journal of Electronic Business, Neural Computation, Neural Computing and Applications, Neural Networks, Neural Processing Letters, Neurocomputing and Supercomputing.
Able to speak Cantonese (for sure), Mandarin (so-so) and English (ok), read and write Chinese (traditional and some simplified) and English. Do not know any Chinese input method, and have no plan to learn. Favorite movies: Beautiful Mind (A pub could give us a lot of inspiration), The Day After Tomorrow (Research for saving lives). Favorite singers: Eason Chan, Jacky Cheung.
